Full-service location record production. I can provide all equipment and expertise to make your record in a non-studio location. Specialising in classical/choral/new music I can produce and engineer or work with your own producer to capture the best possible performance. A standard session is three hours long and should produce twenty to thirty minutes of final music.
Discrete performance capture in front of a live audience. Multiple performances and/or rehearsals can be combined for the best available master. This can be supplemented with various levels of video recording dependent on your needs.
Seamlessly assembling the best available combination of takes to produce the best possible final performance. I can work with material I have recorded and produced, your own marked-up scores or assess raw undocumented takes from scratch. Stereo or multitrack editing is available.
From original multitracks to a stereo, 5.1 or Ambisonic (e.g. YouTube 360) mix.
Master preparation/manufacturing brokering
Preparing a factory-ready master disc or digital files for pressing or digital distribution. I can arrange for your short-run manufacture, including brokering all design work and pre-press. I am an Apple ‘Mastered for iTunes’ (MFiT) approved engineer.
Sensitive reduction of both incidental and continuous noise issues. Spectral and spatial rebalancing and level management.
I can mix your performance for live broadcast - audio only or with picture. This is often combined with a concert recording.
Providing live sound reinforcement for your concert or event I specify suitable equipment and produce a live sound mix sensitive to the needs of the music - particularly classical and new music. Working with third-party partners, I can arrange for all equipment hire and rigging. If your performance requires pre-recorded elements, live processing or other special requirements I can advise on the best way to achieve this.
I can assess and advise on a wide range of audio systems from installed systems and venue infrastructure to mobile rigs and temporary installations. I am familiar with both legacy designs and the latest systems for live-sound, recording and broadcast including AoIP. I am DANTE certified. I can work with you and your team to identify your needs and help you to design a new system or analyse your current systems and identify points of weakness and opportunities for workflow improvement.
I am an experienced University lecturer and can provide detailed instruction on a wide range of music/sound technology subjects.
